I commenced at Maclean High School in October 2017, having had 33 years' experience teaching in NSW Department of Education high schools.
Being educated in Coffs Harbour, I completed a Science degree and a Diploma of Education at the University of New England before moving to Western Sydney to begin a career in teaching science. This was followed by a Masters degree through the Australian National University, specialising in contemporary science.
I have taught Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Junior Science and Mathematics at various NSW schools in both rural and metropolitan areas.
At Maclean High School, we take equal pride in encouraging students’ academic, cultural, social, physical and pastoral development. Innovation is at the core of our programs, seamlessly blending classroom, mobile and online experiences throughout the learning journey. What sets Maclean High School apart is the focus on the individual; harnessing their strengths and developing personalised pathways and programs of learning. Our vision is that Maclean High School graduates will be identified by their confidence, optimism and respect for healthy relationships. They will be highly competent and capable of making a positive contribution to their country and the world. They will be well grounded with a sense of who they are in the world and a set of values founded in integrity, reason and knowledge.
All students deserve the opportunity to learn in a safe environment and so having the opportunity to lead a school to create a place that kids love coming to, where they feel valued and where they experience success is a professional highlight for me.
